About Joy Nest

A licensed home daycare in Maple Valley, run by one caregiver.

Joy Nest is run by a mom who has spent 14 years raising her own children — and who built this home daycare around the things she wanted for them: warmth, patience, real food, and a day that moves at a child's pace.

Why Joy Nest exists

Most daycare decisions come down to a feeling. You walk in, you watch how the room feels, and you imagine your child there. Joy Nest was built for that moment: a home where a small number of children are known by name, where the day has a rhythm instead of a rush, and where a parent can ask a question without feeling like a distraction.

What I bring to the work

I raised my own children for 14 years before opening Joy Nest, which taught me the part that no certificate covers: how to read a room of small people, how to slow down when a child needs it, and how much of good care is simply paying attention.

  • Washington State family child care license #PL-86705
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Master's degree in Computer Science — which, less surprisingly than it sounds, is mostly practice at planning, noticing patterns, and solving problems calmly
  • Daily home cooking, with organic ingredients, including Indian meals
  • English, Hindi, and Telugu spoken during the day

What a day looks like

Children arrive and settle into free play. There are stories, songs, sensory play, and simple projects; outdoor time and neighborhood walks when the weather allows; meals and a quiet rest period; then afternoon play and pickup. The order stays roughly the same because predictability is what makes a small child brave enough to explore.

Every day flexes around the children in front of me — their moods, the weather, and whatever they are suddenly fascinated by.
