Privacy Policy
How Joy Nest collects, uses, and protects the information families share with us — online and in our home-based daycare.
We collect the information you choose to share so we can answer your questions and provide care. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers who help us operate, or when the law requires it.
Who we are
Joy Nest is a licensed family child care home in Maple Valley, Washington (License #PL-86705). In this policy, “Joy Nest,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Joy Nest and the people who operate it.
This policy applies to joynestchildcare.com, the inquiry form on our website, and personal information we collect from families in connection with our daycare. It does not apply to third-party websites or apps we link to.
Information we collect
Information you share with us
When you use our inquiry form, we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, your child’s age, your preferred start date, and your message. Our contact form also records the IP address associated with the submission and keeps a short-lived, hashed record of recent submissions so we can prevent spam and abuse.
When a family enrolls, we collect the information needed to provide safe, licensed care. This can include parent and guardian contact details, your child’s name and date of birth, health and allergy information, immunization records, emergency contacts, authorized pickup people, and billing information. We collect this information directly from parents and guardians through enrollment forms and conversations — not through this website.
If you contact us by email, text, or a referral message, we receive the information you include in that message, such as your name, contact details, and information about the family you are referring.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs. These can include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to keep the site secure, diagnose problems, and understand basic traffic levels.
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-Q44T14CFBK) to understand how visitors find and use this site. Google Analytics may collect your IP address (which Google uses to estimate approximate location), browser and device information, the pages you view, how long you stay, and actions such as clicking a referral link or submitting the inquiry form. We do not send the name, email address, or message you enter in the inquiry form to Google Analytics. We do not enable Google Analytics advertising features, such as remarketing or advertising personalization.
Google processes this information on our behalf. For details, see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and schedule visits.
- Assess fit, availability, and enrollment requests.
- Provide care and maintain required child records.
- Communicate with families about routines, schedules, health, billing, and program updates.
- Protect the safety of children, families, and staff, and prevent spam or misuse of our website.
- Meet licensing, tax, insurance, and other legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, rent it to others, or use it for targeted advertising.
Children’s privacy
Our website is intended for parents and guardians, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this website, and children should not submit the inquiry form.
Information about a child that we receive during enrollment is provided by the child’s parent or guardian so we can provide care, keep the child safe, and meet licensing requirements. We use that information only for those purposes and do not use it for marketing.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us through this website, please email hello@joynestchildcare.com and we will delete it.
When we share information
We share personal information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted providers for website hosting, email delivery, and other business services. They may access information only as needed to perform those services for us.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to measure website traffic and usage. Google receives the technical and usage information described above and processes it on our behalf.
- Licensing and regulators. We may provide records to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families or other agencies as required for licensing, inspections, or investigations.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect a child, family member, or other person from harm.
- With your consent. We may share information for other reasons when you ask us to or agree in writing.
We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and tracking
We use first-party cookies set by Google Analytics to recognize returning visitors and measure how the site is used. The main cookies are _ga and _ga_<container>, which usually expire after about two years. We use them only for analytics. We do not use them for advertising, and we do not run advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking scripts.
You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, and you can install Google’s Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use this site.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because we do not track visitors across third-party websites for advertising, our analytics practices do not currently change in response to that signal. You can limit analytics using the cookie controls described above.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information only as long as needed to respond and maintain ordinary business records. If you ask us to delete an inquiry and we are not required to keep it, we will do so.
Enrollment and child records are kept for as long as required by Washington child care licensing rules and applicable tax, insurance, and legal requirements. When those periods end, we securely destroy the records. Our spam-prevention record is short-lived, and old entries are removed as part of our spam checks.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. Access is limited to people who need it to operate Joy Nest, and our website inquiry form delivers messages through encrypted email transmission.
No website, email system, or method of storage is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive medical, financial, or identification documents through the website form or ordinary email; we will tell you how to provide those securely during enrollment. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You may contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete information. You may also ask us to stop sending non-essential communications.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may keep information we are legally required to retain. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. To make a request, email hello@joynestchildcare.com.
Third-party links and services
Our site links to services such as Google Maps, email, and text messaging. When you use those services, their own privacy policies and terms apply. We are not responsible for how those companies handle your information.
Our site also uses Google Analytics, described under “Information collected automatically” and “Cookies and tracking” above. Google processes analytics data under its own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If we make a material change, we will post the updated policy here and, where appropriate, let enrolled families know directly.
